Thought only Christopher Nolan and Michael bay could pull off IMAX scenes ? Well Marvel has a something interesting in store for us . According to Variety The Russo Brothers(Joe and Anthony) who directed Captain America:The Winter Soldier and are also currently making Captain America Civil War will also direct Avengers Infinity War, not only that according to some speculations and statements they’ll shoot the entire Avengers Infinity War Part1 and Part 2 using IMAX cameras .
First things first the question which should arise is why anyone hasn’t been able to shoot the entire movie in IMAX, it’s because IMAX cameras are very heavy , take a lot of time to restock and are too noisy to shoot scenes with dialogues which might force the actors to dub their voices again for the movie during post production . Though IMAX camera provides a huge canvas for an image to be three times greater in resolution and a greater cinematographic brilliance than any other standard and conventional format , but still it has been a massive headache. Apart for some action scenes in 4-5 movies IMAX has been both appreciated and abandoned. Movies like The Dark Knight , The Dark Knight Rises, Transformers (Revenge of the Fallen and Age Of Extinction ) continuously switched b/w IMAX and standard footage , which was both awesome and annoying kinda like this video

But all that seems to have passed , IMAX has collaborated with The ARRI group to design a camera which is lighter and easier to use and specially useful for filmmakers like The Russo brothers for an easy transition into the large format to capture the most vivid, clear and crisp image ever possible on digital platform. So the Russo have adopted the Camera and also experimented it for a few scenes of about 15 mins in Captain America Civil War they were quite impressed and happy with the results and later went on to quote this :
Supposedly IMAX used the ARRI Alexa 65 technology to create this new camera. Alexa 65 was previously tested in Captain America:The Winter Soldier, with it’s impressive results it was carried on to Civil War. Apart from the IMAX agreement, ALEXA 65 will be available exclusively through the ARRI Rental network. Which will offer complete massive scale format solution for high quality theatrical motion pictures, the system consists a 65 mm digital movie camera, customized prime and zoom lenses, efficient and fast tools for handling and maintenance. IMAX will need to upgrade their systems before the movie comes as the footage shot in this format should be fit for playback on IMAX Xenon Arc Lamps and laser projection system .
