Gujrat’s Mobile App Comes to Rescue of Thirsty Birds

Mobile apps are not all about games, music and all other entertainment but some are also designed for a noble cause and with a vision to help the society. Many developers have focused on apps for women safety, disaster management and few other social causes.

As the mercury soars, various NGOs and elders would start filling our ears with various pieces of advise and one of them would be to fill a pot of water and keep it outside for thirsty animals and birds. Numerous campaigns would be organised to remind us of the same thing but it just slips out of our mind and we don’t understand the gravity of the situation. Gujarat based animal welfare organisation, Prayas Team Environment Charitable Trust has teamed up with the NGO Humane Society International(HSI) to develop the app, The Bird Tap which might prove to be very useful in rescuing the birds from sweltering summer.

The app will help the users to locate the nearest Prayas team and they will provide them an earthen pot free of cost. They have been distributing these earthen pots for many years but this time, they are going to do it in an organised way – by keeping a record of places where earthen pots are installed. Also, you can set a reminder in app that will help you keep track of water in the pot.

Thousands of birds die every summer while we sit in our homes comfortably in ACs and coolers, away from the the scorching heat. By simply keeping a pot of water, we might not be able to save all those birds facing the dearth of water, but if we play our part honestly and keep a pot of water outside for birds, then we might be able give life to a few of them. If you are the kind of person who is going to forget this due to any reason, then you can download this app which would constantly jog your memory.
