Top 5 Movies Few Fans Know About

I think we all agree the timelessly badass character of Tyler Durden cannot be imagined without the face of Brad Pitt, I suppose even by Chuck Palahniuk himself. There are just so many on screen personas immortalized by the extremely talented actors that the movie industry has seen, from the unforgettable Joker in “The Dark Knight”, played by Heath Ledger, to The Terminator played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. However, as much as we are inspired by our favourite superstars, we sometimes overlook their most unique and refreshing works just by the virtue of them being box office disasters.

So, today we are going to talk about the 5 not-so-famous movies with the oh-so-famous actors in their cast.

[alert type=red ]I am going to leave out all those titles which were hated by critics and viewers alike, like “Grace Kelly” starring Heath Ledger (don’t even think about checking that one out).[/alert]

There are just so many masterpieces this legend has left in his wake, “Capote” being the pinnacle of his success. But even those who have missed out on his French works cannot forget the important roles he has played in Hollywood movies. Even the most superficial and pretentious of movie buffs have seen him in action as Owen Davian in “Mission Impossible III”. That being said, there remains a gem that next to none of his most devout fans have bothered to admire and that gem is “The Boat That Rocked”, which presents the actor in a funny and refreshing fashion as “The Count”, the leader of bunch of DJs anchored in the North Sea of Great Britain and broadcasting pop and rock music uncensored and unrestricted.

The first movie that comes to mind when we think of Tom Hanks is “Forrest Gump”, his most critically acclaimed and beloved role till date. For some people, it may be the best movie ever made in USA because it so happens that he ROCKS in unintentionally funny roles. On similar lines is built the character of Victor Navorski, a tourist from a post-separation Soviet bloc country stranded at the JFK International Airport in New York, USA. Although to borrow a metaphor from John Green “if people were rain”, Victor is drizzle and Forrest is hurricane, but it’s still a really cute movie to check out.

It is really surprising how people can pass over this one. This movie sees the future suave, Mr. Smith as a rugged gypsy fighter and the future Transporter as a small time illegal boxing promoter. This movie is neck deep in verbal racial violence and sexism, right down to the fact that the entire 13 membered main cast lineup is composed entirely of men. It is a dark comedy against every kind of discrimination that has ever prevailed in the world. The Russians hate the Americans, the Americans hate the British, The British hate the Pikeys (Irish campers) and the Turkish (Jason Statham) hates the “ze Germans”. It’s smart, dramatic and hilarious; something I can never get enough of.

This movie is simply too deep to be understood by the average X-Men fan, although the X-Men franchise is finally starting to push some intellectual limits and the X-Men movies are the ones which have attached the image of the grumpy, tough and narcissistic Logan (aka Wolverine) with Hugh Jackman. The Fountain is about love, fate and spirituality; all at once. Hugh Jackman plays the role of a conquistador from the past, a modern day scientist and a future space traveller. Yup, definitely deeper than X-Men.

[button color=”grey” size=”big” alignment=”center” rel=”follow” openin=”newwindow” url=”http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0485947/”]1. Mr. Nobody- Starring Jared Leto[/button]

Woah,  is it number 1 already? This movie in its depth is comparable with The Fountain. Although, it relies less on metaphors and most of the movie is not supposed to be real (Oops!). We all remember Jared, if not as the Angel Face from Fight Club, then as the frontman of the platinum-selling band “30 seconds to Mars”. Mr. Nobody is the story of Nemo Nobody, a child gifted with the power to perceive the future correctly and how he is faced with the most difficult and critical decision in his life.
