You may have witnessed a recent press coverage about a Russian group collecting 1.2 billion user names and passwords from websites they hacked. This façade is really horrendous considering there’s only 2 billion users online and half of them are vulnerable. This anomaly marks the need of proper security measures related to personal accounts and Microsoft might have just the right cure.
If this feature lives up to the hype that it created, the age of the password will be gone for good. With Windows Hello, you can simply login with your face or fingers or Iris. With the help of biometric recognition and authentication. You won’t have to remember passwords any more. This feature not only makes your device more convenient to access, but also is quite secure, the hackers can’t hack or crack your face now can they? This feature, if successful, will revolutionize device and server security, allowing you to access enterprise content, internal application, experiences  on-line and various other features to come, without troubling you to think of a new, complex  and secure password and remembering it.

How does it work?

As mentioned above windows hello implements system support for face, fingerprints, iris using biometric authentication. The pros of this feature ‘Login with your face’ is it will abolish the fuss about uniqueness in your credentials, as you are already unique. You won’t have to pen down tricky passwords. With this feature, you might come across a doubt ‘what if a photograph can be used instead’ well for that there’s already a fix, windows 10 has a combination of hardware and software to check if it’s really you not a flat photo. The camera will use infra-red technology to identify your face and iris, not even an HD picture of yourself could fool this feature. Another advantage of this technology is it works in almost every light condition.
Sky is the limit for this feature, it can be used in enterprises, hospitals, defence which are unconditionally dependent on identity.

It’s a generic code name used by for the application programming system’s IT managers, software developers and website authors to provide a more secure and easy way of letting you sign-in to their sites or apps. This feature ensures whether you have the only device that can be used to access a content. With this feature password sharing won’t make any difference as having the necessary device is the only way to access the intended content. The hacker will have to steal away your device to misuse it and even then he might fail. This feature makes use of hardware and software signature that is unique for every device. Windows 10 will verify if you have possession of your device before it authenticates on your behalf. Once authenticated, you’ll be redirected to Windows hello where you can ‘Login with your face’ or iris or fingers to access all the intended services.

The bottom line is not everyone will be able to utilize this feature just yet, it is only available for the latest devices having special depth-sensing camera kinda like Intel’s RealSense developer kit. To expand this feature, Tobii Technology is introducing support for this feature like  EyeX controller worth €119 ($129) and Steel Series Sentry Gaming Eye Tracker worth €249.99 ($271).
