Email Marketing: AWeber Vs GetResponse

If you are on this page from a search engine, I’m guessing you already know what AWeber and GetResponse both are, right? Still, let me take the liberty of introducing to you, the two industry leaders in Email Marketing.

AWeber and GetResponse, both are tools of the trade that have established themselves as Email Marketing Giants in the industry, they let you create a list, save new subscribers, create email templates, they got auto-responders and a lot of other things.

The purpose of me taking to write this review is to give you a better, clearer picture of which one is for you, and which isn’t. Let me make it clear at this point, that I love both of the tools, but still there always is one or other edge they’ve got over each other, so this review which I’m taking to write after a 30day of experience with both of them, will clean up the mirror for you and then you can decide who you want you next Email marketing best friend to be.

Pricing:-

What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you enter a shopping mall? Not the names of the products, but the budget that you’ve got, right? (Unless ofcourse you’re some kind of multi-millionaire) , and that’s the reason I’m including this comparison here at the very beginning.

Because all the other factors and features would mean anything to you, only if it’s in your budget. If it’s not, no matter how super cool a Lamborghini is, you still can’t afford it, right? (Duh! )

GetResponse Price List:-

  • 1,000 subscribers: Email package: $15 / Pro Package: $49 / Max Package: $165
  • 1,001 to 2,500 subscribers: $25 / $49 / $165
  • 2,501 to 5,000 subscribers: $45 / $49 / $165
  • 5,001 to 10,000 subscribers: $65 / $75 / $ 165
  • 10,001 to 25,000 subscribers: $145 / $165 / $255
  • 25,001 to 50,000 subscribers: $250 / $280 / $370
  • 50,001 to 100,000 subscribers: $450 / $490 / $580

That’s a pretty varied, and long list right? So why the difference in the pricing? Is it just because of the number of Email subscribers? Nope it’s not, with GetResponse you get increasing number of features with every plan, specifically the landing pages, and trust me when I say this, GetResponse landing pages, when utilized right, can make you 10 times the investment you make in GetResponse in a week !

Or hey, Go out and checkout GetResponse’s FREE TRIAL ! Right now, for 30days ! Yes, you don’t have to pay a penny !

Aweber Price List:-

  • 500 subscribers: $19 per month
  • 501 to 2,500 subscribers: $29 per month
  • 2,501 to 5,000 subscribers: $49 per month
  • 5,001 to 10,000 subscribers: $69 per month
  • 10,001 to 25,000 subscribers: $149 per month

A shorter list, compared to GetResponse, right? Meaning, less choices for you. But keeping the cost in mind, don’t you think it’s clear that GetResponse is offering you double the number of email subscribers, for only $15, while Aweber is charging around $19 for half the number of subscribers?

My Verdict:-

For the “pricing” factor, GetResponse is definitely my choice over Aweber. I mean why would I, or anybody else just want to throw away our extra 5$ , for half  the number of subscribers, when we’re getting double that amount for around a 10% discount in the price with GetResponse.

And that’s not all, if you pay GetResponse for the whole year, you’re getting a whopping 18% discount ! How cool is that right? But alas, Aweber doesn’t let you have that, so yes I’d make bold to state that GetResponse is a better option as far as the pricing is concerned.

But the price doesn’t make a product right? Let’s look on some of the actual features…

A/B Testing:-

GetResponse-AB-testing

As I always say, you can’t improve yourself, unless you’re improving your ways, analyzing your customers and know what they like and what not. Personally, I’m a great fan of A/B testing, and I believe it boosts your overall results a lot, and I mean, a lot.

No, don’t take my word for it, a lot of industry leaders including Neil Patel guys of that stature are a fan of A/B testing, so it’s only justified for me to include and point out how well these two platforms cope up with it.

Both Aweber and Getresponse support A/B testing, yes. But, Aweber offers you only 4 split tests, while GetResponse is offering you 5 tests, at a lower price then Aweber as we’ve already seen.

My Verdict:-

If GetResponse is offering more tests, for lesser price then Aweber, I don’t see a reason why you shouldn’t give GetResponse the edge here, it most certainly deserves to be ranked above Aweber when it comes to A/B testings, right?  So yes, GetResponse is better for you if you believe in growth and A/B tests.

Landing Pages:-

GetResponse-Landing-Pages-Perfect-Lead-Machine

Do you know? A major number of industry leaders in marketing, don’t have a blog. Or, they atleast don’t market products, or make their money from their blog, instead they use a landing page.

You probably already know what a landing page is, but still let me get you a brief introduction. Landing Pages are pages designed with a specific goal in mind, for eg. creating a super awesome looking landing page, with the intention to capture visitor Email Id’s, or with the intention to get sales done.

The bottomline? Whatever you might need, landing pages is the solution. A very successful Landing page strategy is, get a product, create an awesome landing page for it, sponsor it on Facebook, twitter, get sales done and make money. Simple, right?

And this is again a place where GetResponse leads Aweber. With GetResponse, you get a super easy to use, Drag & Drop landing page builder. Means, you just drag and drop elements on the page, and your landing page is ready.

You even get a lot of Pre-designed templates, so no creativity needed there, you can set up your Landing page campaign with GetResponse in less then 10minutes, but with Aweber it isn’t so simple.

With Aweber, you have to use third party plugins or tools in order to get your landing page done, and that isn’t really the best strategy to go about it. Additional plugins or tools will really make a hole in your pocket, for the same quality of result that you already are getting free with Get response.

Webinar Pages:-

Email-Marketing-Landing-Pages-Webinars-All-In-One

This is another Potential aspect, where Aweber can’t compete with Getresponse. GetResponse allows you to create Webinar Pages. Don’t know what they are?

They simply mean, you can run a Webinar from inside of your GetResponse account, along with some other super cool, lead generating features. So meaning, you run a webinar, and without a doubt you’re getting a huge bump in your Email list.

This feature, unfortunately (Or probably fortunately for GetResponse) isn’t yet integrated with Aweber !

My Verdict:-

I personally prefer Webinars a lot, they create you into a brand. Your fan following increases, and so does your Email list, and as they say, the money is in the list. So if GetResponse is offering it, and Aweber isn’t offering it, I don’t think I need to point out who won this section, right?

Templates:-

Get Response – Page Templates

If you’re going for an Email Marketing tool, I’m sure you’re going to need a page to capture your audience, right? Well that’s where templates come in.

Now here’s the point, Aweber offers you around 700 free templates, while Getresponse has only 500. ( Wow, then I’m going with Aweber, or hey, wait !! )

No doubt the number of templates from Aweber is more than GetResponse, but are you looking for quantity, or quality? If you’re going to design and edit 700 different , unique templates in your lifetime, then surely go for Aweber, but if you’re going for 5-10 or probably 50 unique templates, I’d say GetResponse templates clearly look “classy” as compared to the “Geeky” look of Aweber templates.

But well, hey that’s just my opinion, you can go out and compare both the tools’ email templates for yourself and be the judge, it’s your choice.

Support:-

The last aspect I’m covering over here is, the support.

I’ll just be honest, both the support teams, were equally cordial and co-operative and helpful to me in my 30 days with them. So I won’t put the edge over anyone here, I’d just say they both know what they are doing.

They both offer Live chat/ Email support and Phone support , so no matter which method you’re using, be my guest, you won’t be disappointed !

Final Verdict:-

Ah, you’re probably bored reading my “my verdicts” section, right? Sorry for that, I was just making your task easier, so that you get a crystal clear picture of what you’re going to get with each of these.

So for this final section, I’d say if you aren’t a “pro’ marketer yet, and don’t have a lot of money to throw away, go along with GetResponse. It will give you the idea, and hold over Email marketing, and later maybe you can experiment with Aweber, but for now, keeping the Price, features and User Experience in mind, GetResponse will be my definite choice.
