Interstellar prevails at Empire Awards

[dropcap size=small]M[/dropcap]ost of us were disappointed with the negligence of the world-wide awards jury had for the Sci-fi movie, Interstellar. The avoidance is quite noticeable since hardly any Sci-Fi or Fantasy movies have won Academy, Golden Globes and BAFTA Awards. Same was the case of the space voyage ‘Interstellar’ except some awards for visual effects and cinematography, the movie wasn’t celebrated at an intellectual and artistic level, not even for its ground braking background score soundtrack which is kinda sad as it’s one of the smartest, unique and innovative movies ever made.

But recently at the 20th Jameson Empire Awards, Interstellar prevailed against all odds and won not only the award for Best Movie and Best Director, but also Christopher Nolan was honored with Empire Inspiration Award for his 9 movies career. Jessica Chastain gave away the award for Empire Inspiration, The Man of Steel star, Henry Cavil presented the Best Director whereas, Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington and Peter Firth presented the Best Movie. The best part of the Empire Awards is that it’s based on people’s vote, the readers of the Empire Magazine, the fans around the globe have a part to play in the decision of who’s the best.

Nolan quoted that his main inspiration is his wife and producer Emma, she is the one who produced all of his movies and none of it would have been possible without her. He said “Anything really..that’s come out of the films has been based very firmly on the collaboration with some of the great people that I’ve worked with, some of the terrific actors and extraordinary crew. If you are smart enough to surround yourself with people who truly inspire you then hopefully something can come of that.” He quoted, “My main inspiration is absolutely movies, I love movies, they’ve been one of the most important part of my life.”

Surely it’s one of the rare awards in which Interstellar has won the Best Film and Director, the window was too tight as there were a lot of movies that were considered.
