[dropcap size=small]T[/dropcap]he Gionee Elife E7 was launched way back in 2013, and for the last one and a half year the company has not added any device to this series. Although during the launch of Elife E7 in India, President William Lu of Gionee Mobiles had promised a successor to this series along with two others (M and P series) in India. The successor to Elife E7, dubbed as Elife E8 is expected to hit the Indian market pretty soon as it has been spotted on China’s TENAA mobile certification website. However, this Gionee mobile’s price and launch date still remains a question and if rumours are to believed, the all new Elife E8 is ready to pack a punch with an upgraded configuration and well diversified features to impress the users.

First spotted on the Chinese website where the device has been coded as Gionee GN9008 is expected to house a 6-inch QHD (1,440 x 2,560 pixels) resolution AMOLED display with a pixel density of 258 ppi to deliver a crystal clear viewing experience with top-notch clarity and colour brightness. This Gionee mobile appears to be housed in a 9.6mm sleek plastic outfit and has been quoted to weigh only 207 grams with a metal frame around the sides.

The website listing confirms that Gionee Elife E8 is powered by a 2GHz octa-core processor pepped up by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset at the core. An upgradation in the hardware with a 3GB RAM has also been spotted. Therefore, with this configuration Elife E8 can be considered a multitasking beast to facilitate users to run multiple apps simultaneously, surf the web with shorter loading time, stream beautifully lag-free videos and enjoy a premium gaming experience. On the software front, the flagship smartphone is expected to sail on Android 5.0 Lollipop with Amigo UI on the top.

If the GFX Benchmark listing from last month is to be believed, Gionee Elife E8 packs in a 23MP autofocus camera with LED flash, digital zoom and back-illuminated sensor (BSI). The rear camera also comes with a Full HD video recording facility. The 8MP front snapper looks impressive too for rendering good quality video calling and high image productivity for selfies.

Other specifications mentioned in the Chinese website that catches our eye includes a 3,520mAh battery and an in-built storage space of 32GB which can be further expanded up to 128GB with the help of an external Micro SD card. On the connectivity front, the phablet is expected to come with a 4G connectivity and 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11, b/g/n, Mobile Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, GPS/ A-GPS, GPRS, EDGE and USB connectivity. Pictures leaked on the website also reveal a new fingerprint reader on its rear panel placed below the rear camera, as seen on the Huawei Ascend Mate 7. Four microphones appear to be placed on the top of the rear camera and the speaker finds its place in the bottom.

With such powerful configuration on board along with a supreme camera architecture to boast about and a premium display to flaunt, Gionee Elife E8 is expected to take the market by a storm and move a step ahead of its predecessor.
