Rules of Friendship: The Brocode

[dropcap size=small]O[/dropcap]ut of all the relationships existing currently, friendship is the best and purest of all, as people get to choose to be very close and emotionally attached to a person who isn’t even a part of their bloodline. A relationship build upon the foundations of trust and equality might probably last for a short time but its traces remain for eternity. No matter how broke, depressed and disappointed from life you are, having at least one good friend has its perks.

Thereby, we present you the commandments of brother-hood; the rules of friendship which shall not be broken:

1. Number of bros in the circle

A Bro circle should not have more than 3 guys, otherwise it ceases to be the bro circle it becomes just another lousy, stereotypical, average gang without any scope of credibility and unity. In my opinion, “A group large in size is always shallow in spirit”. If you have two best friends you don’t need any other, technically you have everything. Remember ‘Dil Chahta Hai‘ and ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara‘?

2. Bros before hoes

Never ever place eye candies before BFFs. Chances are that those BFFs became wingmen for you to help you get that wench. Bros are always there for you when you get rejected by some unworthy chick and also the ones who motivate (or manipulate) you to take the step of confessing your feelings to your crush. So it absolutely doesn’t give you the right to avoid or give less priority to your bro, who helped you in getting laid or moving on from a girl.

3. A Bro in need is a Bro indeed

The phrase couldn’t be any less ambiguous, one should always be there to help his friend despite his own situation. According to famous TV show ‘Friends‘, “The quality of selflessness and sacrifice is in doing things for someone especially your friends no matter how bad it makes you feel”,  and I couldn’t agree any more. If your supposed friend isn’t helping you out in your needs then get rid of him, and most importantly you mustn’t confuse your ‘wants’ with your ‘needs’; a bro might refuse to help you out because he knows you better than yourself and knows well that if you actually need that ‘something’.

4. Bros don’t Bitch

Bitching is the least masculine thing a person could do, no wonder it’s called ‘Bitching’. Ask yourself if you talk about your friend behind his back, if yes then leave him for his good cause nothing good can become of this friendship and is destined to fall. If you do talk about him behind his back it should always be to praise him.

5. Bros don’t get envious or jealous

A true friend will always be happy for you no matter how successful you are and how failed he is. He shall always wish the best for you, and also bring about the best in you. Another great quality a Bro must have is carrying you to greatness, if he is going to do some great things which will make him successful, he’ll want you to be a part of it.

6. Bros don’t engage with each others’ girlfriends

Yes, the first thing that should pop in your head when you see your friend’s girlfriend should be ‘bhabhi’ (sister in law), if she is an ex-girlfriend then ex-bhabhi, if she’s a potential girlfriend then bhabhi-to-be. No matter what, you shall not lay your dirty, lustful eyes upon your BFF’s girl. If she is making a pass on you, avoid her and report it to your friend. Also, most importantly if you somehow come to know a current event that matters to your friend’s girlfriend (like birthday, valentines day, etc.) then immediately inform him and save him from the catastrophe.

7. Bros have a non offending and non judging nicknames for each other

If your friend calls you by the name he gave you on a regular basis and you absolutely don’t have any problem with it then congrats, you have gained a true friend. It technically signifies that he cares enough to make a nickname for you. Also, insulting and swearing at your friend on regular basis without making him feel offended or hurt is a good sign of friendship.

8. Bros must be honest with each other

There’s a thin line between trust and honesty. Say, you ask your friend if you look good when you are actually not looking so, if he replies honestly in the most insulting manner then you have found a true friend. Also, true friends tell each other absolutely anything that comes to their mind no matter how stupid, vulgar and non sense that thing is; it will be obliged and affirmed.

9. Bros always keep in touch

No matter how distant and separated you are, you must always find a way to be connected with them. It doesn’t mean to suffocate them, but true friends should always feel each others’ presence.

10. Bros are partner in crimes

It is said “true friend won’t let you do stupid things, if they do they won’t let you do it alone “. A Bro will save you from an ugly girl, lie to your parents to save your butt, take your blame upon himself, become your parent if your teacher calls, beat the crap out of a guy who troubles you . A bro won’t hesitate going to extreme measures to save you from troubles or avenge you.
