I Want to Believe : The X-Files is Returning

It’s been so long since we bid adieu to the mind boggling, mystique and bewildering TV saga, The X-Files. Though we did some Sci-fi act of it in 2008 by a movie ‘X-Files: I Want to Believe, but it was poorly received. Neither the critics nor the fans were satisfied by this desperate attempt to resurrect the famous show, nonetheless it was quite a disappointment. Since then The X-Files has been just a vision waiting to be unleashed, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson have met few times and discussed the return of the franchise irrespective of the form it would take, Movie or TV show. But the involvement of the series creator, Chris Caster is ambiguous as in though the series is his baby, his last projects weren’t properly received by the audience. Surely he will land a producer credit but his creative involvement in the prospect is a mystery.

The main characters Dana Scully and Fox Moulder will have to return in their shoes, else it won’t be the same X-Files we’ve eagerly been waiting for. David Duchovny was asked about his response for the show coming back, his reply indicated that he was happy and interested to bring Fox Moulder back to life but he is not interested in doing the whole season, he stated “Certainly I can’t nor would I be interested in doing a full season. It will be in some kind of limited form. We’re all old, we don’t have the energy for a full season.”

I mean they both are busy people, Gillian is doing NBC’s Hannibal whereas David is doing NBC’s Aquarius. This clearly indicates that they’ll have a very limited role or contribution in the most awaited and anticipated series, but still we do hope for an intellectual and creative prospect.

Corey Nickols Takes Photos of Dana Walden and Gary Newman

If somehow Gary Newman and Dana Walden, the long-serving CEOs of production powerhouse 20th Century Fox TV manage to find a schedule hole in  David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and Chris Carter’s busy schedule, the production house might just land into the same old version of the X-Files. After the introduction of this prospect, fans are suddenly hoping for another TV show resurrection ‘Prison Break’, the studio’s take on that was that they weren’t currently working on something related to Prison Break but won’t mind bringing it back either.
